Job Description

Based at the Head Office in Vaughan, you will work closely with staff and managers to effectively collect data, communicate information, as well as educate the employees on payroll and benefits policies and procedures, all while ensuring compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.

This position is a maternity leave 15-month contract, we are looking for an individual to start asap!

Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour

Work Environment: Primarily works in an office environment with occasional time spent in a production and/or warehouse settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the data entry and submission of hours for the hourly production staff in Canada to our Central Payroll group.
  • Receive weekly entry of hours from Operations and process through SAP payroll system
  • Submit on a weekly basis the hours to Central Payroll located in the USA
  • Enter payroll and employment information in a timely and accurate manner; ensures the integrity of payroll data
  • Inputs changes and manages vacation accruals; confirms required documentation/approvals have been received
  • Balances and reconciles payroll records; analyzes reports to identify errors and resolves and adjusts discrepancies
  • Maintain a consistent information flow between payroll and HR; and other operational departments as needed
  • Generate regular and ad-hoc payroll reports
  • Assist in payroll and benefits projects including policy, process, and technological changes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and create standardization
  • Consistently interpret and apply regulations, employment laws, and other requirements that are guiding the processing of payroll to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
  • Collaborate with other teams, team members, and supervisors to resolve escalated payroll and benefits issues
  • Enrolls qualified employees in the benefits program and the Group RRSP
  • Administer the benefits and Group RRSP program, and host benefit orientations with employees
  • Responsible for maintaining data integrity of the group benefits portal
  • Provides assistance to employees regarding questions or issues with pay, benefits, company policies, retirement savings, etc.
  • Ensures and supports to make sure Food safety, Quality, HACCP and GMP is always followed.

Job Requirements

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Working towards PCP designation considered an asset
  • Understanding of payroll and HR principles and standards in Ontario and Quebec
  • Bilingual in English and French considered an asset
  • Solid knowledge of payroll processes and CRA requirements
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications with strong Excel skills
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information and to perform with a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Experience in SAP
